This article uses OEM and ODM to distinguish two of our service routes, not as the only industry definitions. Here, ODM starts with one of our existing machines adapted for your brand, such as its logo, box and manual. OEM here describes a new product manufactured to your drawings and design requirements.

The two routes differ in how many units you commit to, how long you wait and who owns the result. Work out which one you are on before you ask for a price, because the quote is built differently.

ODM: a machine already in production, under your brand

You start from one of our current platforms and change its appearance, packaging or selected parameters. The design exists, so development cost stays low, and you reach the market sooner. For a distributor testing a new market or building a range, this is usually where to start.

Logo, color, accessories, packaging and manual can be customized within the options supported by the selected existing platform. Changes outside those options, such as a molded logo or new accessory geometry, require a separate assessment of development and tooling work.

OEM: your drawings, your product

In the OEM service route described here, we manufacture to your drawings and design requirements, for a fully customized product. We cover exterior design, function, hardware and software development and assembly in-house, but you are paying for development and often for new tooling.

For a product made entirely to your drawings and design requirements, the product intellectual property belongs to you. Tooling belongs to whoever pays for it. Put that in the contract, mould by mould, before the tooling invoice is paid; it is a much harder conversation afterward.

The minimums and how they stack

Quantity example, not a specific quotation: 50 machines is an assumption; the table lists our stated minimums, not invented figures.

Assume an order for 50 logo-branded machines has been agreed for the selected model, with one carton per machine. Our stated minimum for custom printed cartons is 100 pieces, so this assumed order would leave 50 cartons unused. Unused cartons can be stored for your next order under our storage service; agree the specific packaging and storage arrangements.

Lead times start when the specification is frozen

In-stock samples ship within 7 days. Mass production usually takes 30–45 days after the customization requirements are finalized, and that condition matters more than the number. Artwork still going back and forth, a manual translation not yet signed off or a color still under discussion means the clock has not started.

Development time for a new product depends on how much is being customized, so we quote it per project rather than give a standard figure.

If you are not sure which route you are on, write down every change you want and send it with the model you have in mind. We call supported existing-platform adaptations ODM here, and a new product built to your drawings OEM, with the 300-unit new-development minimum and a project-specific development schedule.
